Active in the field of reactor safety, E. Scott de Martinville obtained a mechanical engineering degree in 1975 and a fluid mechanics PhD thesis on the Fuel Coolant Interaction in 1978.
Since 1979, he occupied several technical manager positions.
His main activities are carried out in the domain of severe accidents of nuclear reactors through experimental and model studies in the Ispra JRC for three years, then in IPSN since 1982. He participated there in the thermalhydraulics and fuel behaviour studies for the design basis LOCA and for the severe accidents; along this line he was the first scientific analysis WG leader for the international fission products studies in the Phebus reactor in Cadarache.
Turning back to Paris in the late 80’s, he participated in several safety studies and evaluations for nuclear installations, but had also the opportunity to spend several years as responsible for the HLLL underground storage model development in ANDRA and in the development of evaporators for the Laser fuel enrichment in CEA.
He joined the IRSN International Relations Department for the relations with the European institutions in 2004.
In the end of 2007 he became Head the International Relations Department.
