Education: Grammar school, studied engineering at Aachen University of Technology (RWTH Aachen). Diploma in Electrical engineering/Nuclear engineering 1975.Specialist in the fields of HTR safety issues and LWR safety strategies and safety concepts. Professional carreer: Began working at the Jülich nuclear research centre in 1975, then changed to the "Institut für Reaktorsicherheit (IRS)" which later became "Gesellschaft für Anlagen- und Reaktorsicherheit (GRS)"; for several years on the staff of the General Secretariat of the Reactor Safety Commission (RSK), then Head of the Nuclear Power Plants Department and subsequently Head of the Fundamental Safety Issues Department in the former Fundamental Safety Issues and International Programmes Division of GRS. Currently Head of the Projects and International Programmes Division.
